St Vincents & Mercy Private

St Vincents & Mercy Private Hospital now offer Work Experience Placements for High School Students in Years 10 and 11. Our program provides students with an insight into the organisation and the healthcare industry.

St Vincents & Mercy Private will run two placements in 2012:

Monday 7th May - Friday 11th May 2012

Monday 27th August - Friday 31st August 2012

Please note these dates are not negotiable and you are able to choose ONE ONLY.

All 3 of our hospitals offer placements to students for the Work Experience program including: St Vincents Private, Mercy Private and Vimy Private. Within these hospitals a small number of wards and departments participate in the program.

• Non-clinical support areas (Food, Environmental and Supply Services)
• Clerical/Administrative (Business Office, Health Information Services, Finance)
• Clinical (Nursing, Nutrition)

Students are given the opportunity to spend one week working in these wards and departments and to observe and participate in the daily activities of the hospital. Students are at all times accompanied by St Vincents & Mercy Private staff.

Please note that we are unable to place students in the following areas:

• Intensive Care Unit
• Delivery Suite
• Operating Suites and procedural areas

• a resume
• a covering letter
• a completed application form explaining why you would like to complete work experience at St Vincents & Mercy Private
• The Work Experience Arrangement form completed by your school.

Following review of your application and placement availability, we will notify you of the outcome.

Applications close for the May Program on Friday 30th March and notification of placements will be sent out the week commencing Monday 2nd April.

Applications close for the August Program on Friday 3rd August and notification of placements will be sent out the week commencing Monday 6th August.
